PHOTOGRAPHIC BIRD ART BY PAUL CLIFF

As far as style goes, I grew up with film and print, I think a lot of how my pictures look goes back to the good old darkroom days. I like drama in photos, I want something to convey a story or feel or mood, I'm not a fan of specimen pictures- birds and nothing else, I want to see where it is and where it belongs in it's environment.

Please note than more of Paul's work can be found amongst the county bird galleries on the photograph and artwork mainpage.

Paul can be contacted on skiddo@mac.com

Grey Heron, Birtle

I do like silhouettes, especially if it's a bird that can be recognised from it

Gothic Peregrine

This was my reaction to the press naming them- an insult to thier majestic gothic prowess

Waterfall Dipper

This was me messing about, handheld on a 500mm lense at 1 second. I wanted something that looked like an impressionists painting

Blackbird, Birtle

Nuthatch, Birtle

Crows, Kosova

Kosova was interesting- the cities and town skies are filled with corvids in the evenings when the birds come to roost. It was impressive and a little sinister in a place that has seen so much misery and death, the only thing that seemed to be thriving were the eaters of the dead.
