HEATON PARK RESERVOIR

Almost a 'miniature Audenshaw', this site has strictly no access unless by previously acquired permit.

SPECIES TOTAL NAME FURTHER DETAILS
133 Simon Johnson Having only been birding this site since early 2006 Simon has already seen some impressive species, including Leach's Petrel, Lesser Scaup, Caspian Gull, Hobby, Osprey, Black Redstart, Redstart, Smew, Snow Bunting, Red Kite, Lapland Bunting, Slavonian Grebe, Red-breasted Merganser, Turnstone, Sanderling, Rock Pipit and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.
128 Pete Berry Having covered the site for the past 20 years Pete's list includes some very good birds including Honey Buzzard, Lesser Scaup, Ringed-necked Duck, Leach's Petrel, Long-tailed Duck, Slavonian Grebe, Little Egret and both Glaucous and Iceland Gulls.
122 Sean Sweeney

Sean's highlights for this site include both Slavonian and Black-necked Grebes, Whooper Swan, Lesser Scaup, Smew, Jack Snipe, Glaucous, Iceland and Caspian Gulls, White-winged Black Tern, both Green and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Spotted Flycatcher and Yellowhammer. He has several species yet to catch up on including some of the passage waders which should surely fall sooner or later, and an over-flying Osprey seen from within Heaton Park itself and so not countable on his actual reservoir list. Ah, the cruelties of site listing!
