Wha'd'ya mean, you've got no idea what it is? (Photo by Ian McKerchar) EASY! Try to identify the 2 mystery birds each month, the person with the most correct answers at the end of the 12 month period wins. All species in the competition are currently on the official BOU British List (and so could feasibly be found in the county, with a bit of imagination anyway!) and images vary from the easy to the downright difficult, with plenty in between. Entries MUST be received by the end of the period listed with the images, when a full analysis of the mystery birds true identification will be published. Competitors should email their entries to me here, placing your answers in the body of the email against the mystery photograph number. I will acknowledge the receipt of each entry, so if you don't receive one please check with me! As it's all a bit of fun (and costs nowt to enter) I would urge all birders to have a 'crack' and test their skills. Two species per month will be posted in the links below with the leaders at each stage of the competition being published and the person with the most correct answers at the completion of the competition receiving a free copy of the County Bird Report and of course the accolade 'Manchester Mystery Bird Champion'. In the event of a tie at the completion of the competition those contestants will receive a further 2 (likely very difficult!) mystery birds in an attempt to settle the matter and if this fails to produce a winner a name will be drawn from a hat.
