MANCHESTER BIRDING

ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

WHO AM I AND WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?

Photo thanks to Paul Cliff

Welcome to my Greater Manchester County birding website, Manchester Birding, it is owned, designed, built and maintained by me, Ian McKerchar with the ever generous contributions from many county birders. Besides running this website I am also Assistant County Recorder (Rarities) for Greater Manchester and one of the two administrators for the Greater Manchester Bird Recording Group and constructed this site from scratch during 2006 with nothing but a computer program, an idiots guide (which I couldn't understand), hope, lots of cups of tea and more swear words than I care to remember! Anyway, it was a long time ambition, was well worth it and has become something of a work in progress (not to mention a labour of love!) as I add bits, get new ideas (always a dangerous thing) or input from it's many dedicated users who have really embraced the site and made it their own. Manchester Birding was finally published in September 2006 and it's associated forum in October 2006 and is funded by myself with assistance for the Manchester Birding Forum in the shape of sponsorship from Birdnet Information Services for which I am very much obliged.

I would welcome photographs, articles or other items of interest about birds and birding for the possible inclusion in this site and to ask those interested to consult the guidelines for submissions link here and would warmly welcome any feedback concerning this site to be sent to me at: ian@mckerchar1.freeserve.co.uk .

Please note that views, opinions and comments within this site are my own unless otherwise stated and are not necessarily those of the Greater Manchester Bird Recording Group or County Rarities Committee.

'Manchester Birding' is just the name of this (my) website, it is not the name of an organisation or society, nor is it an official website for the county or any organisation.
