TAWNY OWL

In 2000, a Tawny Owl in Bolton plunge dived into a garden pond on the manner of an Osprey from a perch on a rotary clothes line in order to catch a goldfish.

A bird ringed in Hyde on the 19th May 2000 was refound in Cheetham Park on the 19th March 2006, only 4kms away but at the ripe old age of 16!

A noteworthy record involved a bird flying around street lamps in Bolton Town Centre on the 29th November 1986.

In August 1987 a very enterprising Tawny Owl was seen taking small frogs from a garden pond in the county.
