COMMON QUAIL

 

The maximum number of Quail in the county (involving wild birds) has been recorded twice with 6 birds at both Chat Moss on the 28th July 1994 and on Carrington Moss on the 25th July 2006.

 

In 1947 a Quail was flushed from a stubble field below the canal at Pennington Flash on the 14th December and was seen again on 24th and 31st of January 1948!

A Female Quail was retrieved by a dog on a golf course at Moston on the 17th September 1994 and was handed on the RSPCA to be released.
