OSPREY

 

There is only 1 record of a multiple Osprey sighting in the county, of 2 birds circling over Horwich on the 8th June 2002. 

 

It is unsurprising that generally speaking, Ospreys fly straight through the county so the 2 records of birds that decided to linger are particularly noteworthy and are listed below.

1979   Atherton 17-25th Apr The bird roosted in Atherton and visited Pennington Flash almost daily during it's stay
2001   Brushes Reservoir early April present for a week
