GREAT WHITE EGRET

 

There have only been 4 records of this species in the county.

 

1995   Prestolee Road 30th Jul The first county record spent the day on the River Croal. The following morning it was relocated at Abram Flashes, then flew to Horrock's Flash and stayed until departing on the evening on the 1st Aug. This was almost certainly the same bird as had summered on the Dee Estuary, Cheshire

2008   Rindle Road, Astley 26th Oct-19th Nov also visited Elton Reservoir 14-15th Nov, Walmsley's Flash, Wigan 28-29th Nov
