DUNLIN

The largest single flock of Dunlin recorded in Greater Manchester was 85 birds on the drained number 3 reservoir at Audenshaw Reservoirs on the 16th March 1995.

An unprecedented movement of Dunlin occurred in early November 1984, during a week of continuous rain and a moderate north-westerly wind producing then records totals at three sites. On the 3rd, 107 birds went westwards in 70 minutes over Scotmans Flash and on the 4th a staggering 303 went through Pennington Flash in 3.5 hours (in 33 flocks) averaging 88 an hour, there was also 76 present at Audenshaw Reservoirs the next day.
