COMMON SANDPIPER

 

The largest count of this species remains the 21 birds recorded at Rumworth during early May 1976.

 

A bird colour-ringed at Heriot, Moorfoot Hills, Scotland on the 7th July 1996 was seen at Pennington Flash on the 6th of July 1999 and then again at Seaforth Nature Reserve, Lancashire on the 30th June 2000.

Over-wintering birds, though very uncommon have been recorded on occasion in the county and all records are as follows:
